HOW TO PLAN FOR YOUR BRIDAL HAIR TRIAL

Hair Salon

GROWING IT OUT? NOT ALWAYS NECESSARY!

Unless you’re going for long, flowy looks such as a half-up half-down style or a complete down style such as  hollywood glam, your hair actually doesn’t need to be so long for an all upstyle. The more hair you have the more weight you’ll end up carrying on your head and the more bobby pins you’ll have placed in to secure it all. An all up hairstyle can even be achieved with hair that comes just below the shoulders. Anything more would just be extra for volume/fullness.

ACCESSORIES!

Bring all the accessories, not just the hair ones. They all add something to the full picture:

  1. hair combs, pins, headbands, clips, vines, etc.

  2. Veil

  3. Earrings and Necklaces

  4. Hair Extensions ( if using any)

HAIR PREP BEFORE YOUR TRIAL

Come with clean, dry hair. Whether you wash the night before or the morning of your trial, CLEAN is most preferred. (The Myth of “Day old or Dirty Hair holds styles better for updos” is exactly that. a myth.  After a day or 2 the roots/base of your hair will naturally secrete oils that can weigh down the over all look and appearing more flat when trying to create volume and texture. Even if we add a bit of dry shampoo to counter that, that’s still adding extra product weight that isn’t necessary. if you normally add a product after a good wash such as a leave-in conditioner or something during your blow dry, go for it. As long as it doesn’t create a slick or oily feel or applying it to your scalp, you’re good!If you normally flat iron your hair after a blow dry, I’ll ask that you don’t do it this time. It is much harder to create lasting curls/waves afterwards.

ARE HAIR EXTENSIONS FOR ME?

Think you don’t need them? Maybe you actually do!

Most people think extensions are used to lengthen hair but that’s not all it can provide.

  1. Fuller/more voluminous

  2. Help blend & maintain curls for those with natural straight hair that stubbormly doesn’t hold curls well

  3. Add Color/Dimension

If you’re thinking of a down style or half-up/ half-down style and you especially have fine hair that doesn’t hold curls well, consider using clip-in extensions. When you’re adding interesting details, twists and braids, extensions will help create fullness to the design without taking the bulk of the hair that’s flowing down preventing it from looking thin or see-through.

Clip-ins are what I suggest my brides. There’s no extra steps or appointments beforehand and can be applied the day of your wedding. Plus, they’re easy to remove and can be reused again and again whenever you want!

So if you’re considering it, get them in time for your trial. It’ll help you see the whole look :) I'll be happy to point you to the right ones, just ask!
